The Staines Hobgoblin is truly a diamond in the rough.  Flanked on all sides by an army of soulless, formulaic chav buckets, sterile wine bars and pretentious franchise coffee shops, The Hobgoblin serves as a home-from-home for the self-appointed disassociates.

While the surrounding establishments undergo crude cosmetic make-overs and relentless marketing campaigns, desperate to attribute some form of social significance to their gaudy capitalist enterprise, The Hob maintains a quiet dignity in keeping its ever increasing number of punters happy whilst staying rooted firmly to the ground in a chaotic whirlwind of perpetual redevelopment.

On any given weekend, The Hobgoblin jukebox can be heard sneering loudly in the face of the conglomerated, RnB spouting circus with its high-heeled, bottle-tanned banshees and their fist-fighting Burberry boyfriends. It’s this dedication to honest, no-bullshit music, reflected in the kind of friendly, open-minded folk that drink there, that makes it the perfect place for Buckle Up to lay its hat.

The manager’s willingness to allow us to express ourselves creatively and to accommodate our ever expanding enterprise enables us to use the Hob as the ideal platform to embrace many different ways to promote local acts. The layout allows us to customise the furniture every Thursday and Sunday and turn the pub into a fully operational music venue and night club with an impressive PA and state of the art lighting rig. Currently, there are over 20 of our local bands on the in-house jukebox and we have a section of the bar display exclusively dedicated to selling band merchandise.  The television network allows us to stream our TV channel into the venue on gig nights so we can showcase local band’s promotional music videos, podcasts and interviews etc.

With the scars of hundreds of memorable Buckle Up shows etched into its walls and furniture, The Hobgoblin makes for a charming,  down to earth music venue where bands mingle with the punters, the PA’s loud, the Jager flows free.
